Welcome to Audio Bible, the King James Version narrated by Alexander Scourby
is online!
Back In the forties Alexander Scourby recorded the very first narration of
the Bible. It was produced by The American Foundation For The Blind and
distributed by The American Bible Society as The Talking Bible. The Logo on the
records read "God's Word for a new age". Fifty years have passed and I would
like to present to you "God's Word for this new age." The oldest Book in the
world is now available in multimedia. Instead of 67 wax records running at 16
2/3 Rpm speed it now fits onto one CD-ROM disk. Yes with Audio Bible you can
listen to all 72 hours of audio without flipping a record or tape. You may ask
yourself, why you need Audio Bible? One of my friends made the point clear to
me. He asked me, "tell me of one thing your father ever wrote to you?" My mind
went blank. After a few seconds he said, "now tell me things your father told
you?" My mind began to fill with memories and his point was made. We remember
better if we hear it and best if we read along with what we hear. This is what
Audio Bible is all about. For centuries the Bible was read aloud, even when in
private, remember the story of Philip and the Eunuch?

The Gutenberg Bible was the first book created with a printing press and
movable type. The invention of the printing press was of course one of the
defining moments of human civilization. The British Library, in collaboration
with researchers from Keio University in Japan, are making images of two of the
180 pressings of the Gutenberg Bible available online. Experts scanned the
Bibles at extreme resolution to arrive at electronic copies that for many
purposes provide a better way to examine the documents than by physically
handling them.
In our passion to glorify God, magnify His grace, and exalt His Son,
Jesus Christ, it is our mission to serve the local church by assisting
in globally educating God's people in the principles of biblical
evangelism; Exhorting them to fulfill the Great Commission; and
equipping them with every necessary resource along the way. We do this
primarily through the teaching and preaching of God's Word, strategic
conferences, academic and practical training opportunities, networking
platforms, and the production and dissemination of various printed and
audio/visual media.
A publication of The Berean Call, an evangelical ministry committed to
encouraging Christians to grow in spiritual discernment through their study of
the Bible. In Acts 17:10-11 we are told that the Bereans received what was being
preached to them by the Apostle Paul and were commended because they "searched
the scriptures daily" to see if those things were true. We exhort followers of
Christ to emulate the Bereans as they seek biblical truth.
The Bible Gateway is a tool for reading scripture online. Additionally, it
provides advanced searching capabilities, allowing readers to find particular
passages in scripture, based on keywords. Originally, the Bible Gateway was a CGI script written in perl. It started as
a script that would create HTML versions of Bible chapters. Halfway into its
development, developer Nick Hengeveld realized that it could do the same thing
on the fly and be much more versatile. Nick developed the Gateway on his own and
its initial home was the Calvin College Web server, where Nick worked. In 1995, Nick became the first webmaster at Gospel Communications Network.
Here at Gospelcom, the Gateway began running on the main Web server, which
provided better performance and reliability. The Gateway also acquired rights to
several new versions through the kind cooperation of other Gospelcom members
such as International Bible Society and The Lockman Foundation. The Gateway then moved to its own dedicated Web server at Gospelcom,
increasing performance even more.

The Library of Congress exhibition Scrolls From the Dead Sea: The Ancient
Library of Qumran and Modern Scholarship brings before the American people a
selection from the scrolls which have been the subject of intense public
interest. Over the years questions have been raised about the scrolls'
authenticity, about the people who hid them away the the period in which they
lived, about the secrets the scrolls might reveal, and about the intentions of
the scrolls' custodians in restricting access. The Library's exhibition
describes the historical context of the scrolls and the Qumran community from
whence they may have originated; it also relates the story of their discovery
2,000 years later. In addition, the exhibition encourages a better understanding
of the challenges and complexities connected with scroll research.
The Early Church On-Line Encyclopedia (Ecole) Initiative is a cooperative
effort on the part of scholars across the internet to establish a hypertext
encyclopedia of early Church history (to the Reformation) on the World-Wide Web.
In principle, authors of the various articles that make up the encyclopedia
maintain their own articles at their own locations.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92) was England's best-known preacher for most
of the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1854, just four years after his
conversion, Spurgeon, then only 20, became pastor of London's famed New Park
Street Church (formerly pastored by the famous Baptist theologian John Gill).
The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to
Surrey Music Hall. In these venues Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences
numbering more than 10,000-all in the days before electronic amplification. In
1861 the congregation moved permanently to the newly constructed Metropolitan
Tabernacle.
